July 19 to 23, 2006

2006 Bricklin Grand National Meet
Announced in Holland, Michigan

This year I would like to announce the Bricklin Grand National meet in Holland, Michigan July 19th to July 23rd 2006. This year, a group of us have banded together to make this meet happen. Paul and Pat Agema, Stuart Zukrow and myself! Holland Michigan in located on the West side of Michigan very near Lake Michigan. It is a beautiful scenic town that is known for its Dutch ancestry. The town is very quaint and very scenic. There is a wonderful old world shopping district and a great assortment of restaurants. It is truly a vacation orientated town that is a real treat to visit. The meet hotel is the Holland Holiday Inn complete with Windmill! The Holland Holiday Inn is approximately 2 miles from downtown and a wonderful hotel complete with restaurant, bar, banquet and holidome facilities. They are coming up with quite the deal for our members and furnishing us with a large meeting space for our hospitality suite. Call (800) 279-5286 for reservations and please mention the Bricklin convention code BC1. The price? Only $79.00 per night for Bricklin enthusiasts! What a deal!

On Thursday, we plan on attending the Gilmore car Museum located 35 minutes from Holland. We have a great group rate of $5.00 per person! This is one of the finest car museums that I have ever visited with over 225 automobiles from all different eras. The museum is sponsored by the Classic Car Club of America; in fact it is the clubs museum. It has an extensive collection of Pierce Arrow automobiles and has and enormous library featuring the rare the Tucker historical collection. They have a wonderful restaurant on site and countless automobilia displays. It is not a typical auto museum but a series of barns that all house different eras. There is even a period gas station that we can use for photographs! We plan on taking many photos of Bricklins in and around the museum for a color spread in the Brickline! Afterwards we have reserved space in the classic diner and enjoy a great lunch on the museum grounds. Thursday afternoon we will reserve for shopping in Holland followed by dinning at one of their fine restaurants for dinner.

On Friday morning the Paul Agema road rally will take us to Saugatuck, MI. This is a charming little town located on Lake Michigan. This town is best described as and a New England type costal village. It has an active port and has a large number of little shops selling all sort of unique crafted merchandise. In the harbor there is an historic freighter that is quite a tourist attraction from a historic perspective. It was an original turn of the century ferry that brought tourist from Chicago to Saugatuck circa 1900 to 1930. We will eat in one of the nicest restaurants in town the “White House.” The town also has its own home made ice cream and fudge shops as well as many boutiques each with specialized merchandising schemes. The owner of the White House will rope off his small parking lot for Bricklins and Bricklin owners. After lunch the town is ours to explore.

Friday night will find us back in Holland at one of their great eating establishments and then on to the Hospitality suite. We will have the traditional raffles on Friday night so bring a gift or two for the raffle.

Saturday we plan on having the car show at the Hotel; but may be able to host it in downtown Holland. Trophies are being developed and should be some of the nicest trophies in recent memory. More details will be forthcoming. The Banquet will be held at the Holiday Inn! After the banquet and award celebrations, we will hold the auction. If you can donate something for the auction please do!

All in all this should be another spectacular meet. Make sure you circle your calendar and try to make this meet!

I just got a call from CBC World News; Our CNN. They are planning on sending a reporter to the Bricklin Nationals in 2006. This reporter attended the historic Bricklin meet in Hershey and will bring some rare period footage from New Brunswick on the sale and production of the Bricklin SV1. It will be shown at the meet. I might ad that he will also act as our guest speaker! Still more to come including radio interviews for Canadian Radio of Bricklin owners!!! Lots of good stuff!!!
