... I too was a touch concerned at the outset as to what, if any, negative reaction to your production would "show as"... it was a very fine movie illustrating an important piece of your Family's life... thank you for sharing... I detected no negative fallout afterward.
It tells a "sad story" yet tells it extremely well from many angles.
Your Mom and Dad are fine people and many of us gravitated to them because of it.
Congrats on the movie, the reactions to it and some good times with your family involving Bricklins (finally). You did it.

Just a quick thanks to Steve and his organizing team for a great meet in London. It was my first meet and I had a terrific time, met lots of fabulous people, saw some beautiful bricks and picked up lots of advice. Kudos to Andrew and his family, enjoyed the film very much. Laughed myself silly at the auction thanks to our ever talented Bricklin vendor/auctioneer, Stuart.
I hope all that attended had a safe and uneventful ride home. After 5 1/2 hours on the 401 (about 2 hours from home), 1189 blew the power steering pressure hose....does that really happen to a brick? Luckily Marty spotted a bit of smoke from behind before she really let loose. Quick disconnect of the lines from the steering box and stuffing them into the top of the reservoir to prevent burning up the pump, it was an uneventful ride the rest of the way with strong arm steering...just another job on the to do list.

TOTAL ditto to Steve's comments regarding the meet.
Steve Edgar and company did an awesome job... flawless.
My first as well and a fantastic experience all around; the venue was excellent.
Met some awesome characters and laughed a whole lot at some of the goings-on.
The auction was priceless and hopefully helped the club with some extra bucks to support our habits for a year until Stuart can do it again.
Thank you all for receiving me and thanks to John Martin for judging me so hard... I needed it... 
Cheers and can't wait 'til next year!

SV1 - Belvedere vodka, dry vermouth with orange zest
Safety Green - Green Creme de menthe, white creme de cacao, light cream (Grasshopper)

This was the first Social Media Grand National Meet. I encourage everyone who has not done so, PLEASE join our Bricklin Facebook groups. You may not find it relevant but I can assure you, future Club Members and owners are on Facebook and Twitter. Another reason why we will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary in St. John New Brunswick July 31 to August 5, 2014. Bring your car back to where she was born! Events like this drive membership and ownership. Most of the cars are in the states but most of the interest is in Canada. This is the area that will drive our growth as more and more cars are sold and shipped north.

I agree wholeheartedly with Steve, let's keep the drive alive and make sure it passes to the next generation. The way things were done changes daily. We make more decisions in a day than our grandparents did in a year.
The car should be "borderless" as a Bricklin enthusiast and as we are on the cusp of boomer retirement, let's embrace new ways to take the Club forward. I always say...contstuctive damage to the status quo is a good thing to do.

My wife told me to take a break from the movie for a week so that when I do the final edit my brain will be in a better space. Of course I am doing the honey do list she gave me, progressing well but not finishing quickly (so she doesnt add to the list). She did not say that I couldnt go on the Bricklin forum.
Maybe I missed the info (in London) regarding the Saint John celebration. I would like to offer some suggestions that would enhance the efforts. Some added events to Saint John that would cost BI nothing or are done with corporate sponsorship.
1/ Arrange with the Saint John Historical Society to place a historical plaque at the factory. There could be an unveiling ceremony there with the Bricks present and a politician or two. This would be newsworthy.
2/ Getting as many cars there is of course a bit of a problem, many of us first identified a cool way to get the cars to Saint John. The car carriers are a good idea and could be done from general geographic hotspots with Bricklins. These sub-groups would manage the logistics for their carrier. Corporate sponsorship should be approached to underwrite the cost of transporting the cars. The car carriers could have the corporate sponsors banners on the trucks to give them exposure. First to my mind is Irving or Olands (brewery) and there might be other personal connections club members have with corporate sponsors. The trucks could all meet at the Bricklin factory to be unloaded, that would be symbolic.
3/ If all goes well, the Gray Ghost will be already there and it would be a great tribute to have her in a very special spot along the waterfront with the other Bricks.
4/ Arrange with Make a Wish foundation in New Brunswick to take the kids for a ride in a Bricklin. Taking other people for a ride for a fee would be great as well. For insurance and liability I believe that it would be possible to do this under the insurance rider of the city. I am assuming as it is along the waterfront that it is sanctioned by the City of Saint John.
5/ If you would like you can play SV-1: The Bricklin Inquiry without a fee to me. You could sell tickets to it and the proceeds can go to B.I.
6/ If a graphic look or logo has not been thought of yet I would offer my graphic skill sets to the effort (Graphic Arts is a part of my past). I could also design and build an event website.
7/ If there were to be a theme more than 40th, I have this as an idea. Return to the Nest
8/ The New Brunswick Archives in Fredericton have a great Bricklin archive that they might be convinced to put part of it on display at the event. I will be talking with them next week regarding the showing of my movie at The Silverlight Film Festival in Fredericton (Oct.). I will ask if they would do something like being a part of Saint John the Saint John event.
9/ Since this is the 40th Anniversary it would be nice to arrange a re-union of the employees, many of which still live in the Saint John area. This would be an event that would require a corporate sponsor.
10/ This is a little bit of a long shot but the people behind Bricklin: The Musical might be be interested in doing a re-mount in Saint John.
11/ Oland or another beer company might be interested in doing a limited run on a Bricklin Anniversary brew. 5 different labels, 5 Bricklin colours.
12/ A run to the border. Re-create the first shipment of cars from Saint John to St. Stephen. Both my father, Ian and Vic Scully are still alive and could be approached to be a part of this.
13/ As most of you know, the London event was a really good healing thing for my family. I must be honest that there will be a degree of resentment from some New Brunswickers regarding the Bricklin after all these years. Much of this could have been addressed years ago by opening the files regarding the Bricklin project. Proposing to the present New Brunswick government to release all of the Bricklin files would be a wonderful gesture and a symbolic action for a healing. This would also be valuable for scholars and future researchers. This proposal would be best approached by a citizen of New Brunswick, like a lawyer that is a Bricklin owner in Saint John. The current premier would look good by doing this. My instinct is this could happen as the Conservative Party of New Brunswick let me use their 1974 election commercial for use in my film.
14/ Have a cabaret night with performers singing The Most Beautiful Car in the World and Charlie Russells Bricklin 1 and 2. There are also songs from the Bricklin musical that could be performed as well. Of course the emcee for the event must be Stuart Zukrow.
15/ Have a digital booth to archive pictures and documents that New Brunswickers have in their collections. This would be a great way to add to the digital archive of Bricklin. A laptop and a scanner is all that is really required for this. It is a great way to build the archive.
16/ A marketplace where New Brunswickers and Bricklin people can buy / sell / trade Bricklin nostalgia.
17/ A parade from the Bricklin factory to the waterside in Saint John would bring attention to the event.
18/ Invite the members of the Hatfield and Bricklin families to the event (paying their own way)
19/ Have a car lottery for a charity based in Saint John. This would be a special one because it would be a Bricklin. The person selling the car to the charity would do so at a respectable price. The money above and beyond marketing and the cost of the car would go to that charity. Ticket sales would start well in advance of the draw, the draw for the winner would be at the Saint John event.
20/ Have a colouring contest for kids through the local newspaper. The kid that wins the best coloured Bricklin wins a cool prize.
21/ If you were to do a poker rally including parts of the Bricklin story in Fredericton and Minto would be cool.
As I will be in New Brunswick in the fall I might be able to do some things that need to be done on the ground, I dont mind doing something if needed. This is very exciting and I look forward seeing my new friends in Saint John, maybe with my first Bricklin.

Great creative mind at work Andrew...impressive. Number 19 would have to be changed, the donor would auction his/her car, not sell it to the charity, then donate the funds received to the charity. This works for both the IRS Tax Code and the Canada Income Tax Act.
