Tech Tip: Eliminate the "BRICKLIN BOOGIE"

Originally written: 1976 for Brickline Vol.1 #6

To greatly improve the ride of the SV-1 and eliminate the unsafe wheel hop noted when a bump is hit in a cornering situation, the following is recommended by TECH-DATA under the guidance of JTsystems:

rear suspension GIFRemove both torque arms located above and forward of the rear axle and discard. It is imperative that heavy duty shocks then be installed. Recommended travel and valving similar to that of a 1974 Hornet will do or 1967 Mustang rear will do permitting slightly more rear end travel. If some bottoming occurs, install an extra leaf or a helper kit such as Western Auto Part number 76-3355-5 at a cost of $15.95. Western Auto Tough One shocks Part number 76-4712 at a cost of $8.99 are very adequate and will provide a very comfortable ride.

The above information was received and compiled through the efforts of Terry P. Tanner and Glen and Cliff at C&G Automotive.
