I received the following e-mail in my role as Webmaster of Midwest Bricklin Owners. This is one of those rare opportunities to get a nice Bricklin on display at a high-profile event. I'd encourage one of you with a nice car sign up. (Please be sure to post a note if you've ever attended this event or are planning on attending.)
From: Duba, Brian Sent: Thursday, December 31, 2009 2:54 PM To: Webmaster@Bricklins.net Subject: Keeneland Concours d'Elegance
My name is Brian Duba and I am a member of the acquisition committee for the Keeneland Concours d'Elegance. Our Concours is held at Keeneland Thoroughbred Racing Course (a beautiful venue) every July in Lexington, Kentucky. This year the Concours will be held on July 17th. I am responsible for finding 10 concours quality entrants for Class 9, which is Sports Contemporary (1975-1999), and I think a Bricklin would be a great component of this class. More information about our Concours is available at http://www.keenelandconcours.com/. There are some great ancillary events leading up to and following day of show also, so one could make a vacation out of the event or just drive in for the Concours. All proceeds benefit the Kentucky Children's Hospital, an extremely worthwhile and beneficial non-profit hospital. I would greatly appreciate it if you could advise as to any owners of Concours quality Bricklins that would be interested in attending the Concours. There is no cost involved (other than travel and lodging) and each entrant receives a very nice package of gifts and meals on the day of show. Please contact me with any leads, and please spread the word among your community. Best regards, Brian Duba Attorney at Law | Frost Brown Todd LLC <snip>

Now that I'm living in Lexington, I thought I would send a picture of my car to Mr. Duba and see if he would be interested in putting into the Keeneland Concours. While I was at it, I also invited him to stop by our meet at the Griffen Gate. I'll let you know of his response.
See ya, Steve 2355 |

Here's the response I rec'd from the Keeneland Concours folks. Really no surprise. They need an original car.
Steve, Good morning. Art forwarded your email to me regarding your great Bricklin. It is a beautiful car, but since it is not original (wheels, seats and bodywork look altered), it is not Concours eligible unless the changes from stock are reversible and can be reversed for the show (do you have the original wheels and seats?) I think the repaint is not an issue, if the wheels and other times can be moved back to stock. If not, do you know of a Bricklin owner with an all original (or restored) Bricklin that would be willing to bring it to Lexington? I really want to have a Bricklin represented this year. I greatly appreciate your interest and assistance. Since you are new to town, we should have lunch sometime and talk cars. Thanks, Brian Duba Attorney at Law | Frost Brown Todd LLC

Mr. Duba is still looking for a car to commit to showing up at the event folks.
If the event is within your driving range, please consider it. This is an opportunity to get additional visibility for the Bricklin. |
